HSP Micromodem 56 Help

How to get the HSP Micromodem 56k to connect and stop drops:

lower max speed to 57600
set fifo buffers to the 2nd setting(from low)

enter the string:

AT&F&C1&D2&K3W1  (DCD follows remote carrier, DTR drop causes modem to hang up, Enable RTS/CTS flow control, Report DCE speed, Error Correction/Data Compression protocol, and DTE speed.)

If that does not work try:
and add %N5 (to lower CPU load to 50%) to the init string before the W1 so it reads: AT&F&C1&D2&K3%N4W1

OR

AT&FS37=12N0 (forces v.34[absolute])

OR

AT&FS37=12N0%N5

OR

AT&F&C1&D2&K3S37=12N1W1

ALSO: if they have an S3 video card then lower their graphics resolution.
